(6/1992 - 1/3/2012) Goofi came to F.A.T. Cat Haven as an oldster on April 25, 2010. She was born in June 1992. I was told that she lived up to her name as a kitten into adulthood because she just was a goofy cat and acted like it. Her people were unable to continue to care for her in her old age. Their home was large and Goofi would get lost, confused, and quit using her potty box. She was such a very sweet cat and fit right in with the others here at F.A.T Cat Haven as an indoor cat in our “Cat Room”. It’s a converted bedroom so the smaller size was purr-fect for her. When picked up, her purr box immediately started going. In her last year here she decided to “live” mostly in the Laundry Room next to the Cat Room, where the food and water was. The problem with this was that she always slept right in front of the doors. Every time you went in she would get slide across the floor or smacked by it, and each time you’d go out she would have to get moved. Since she was an old cat it worried us that she might also get “squished” or hurt. Since she insisted on sleeping in here and later, potting here also, we made up a special bed just for our Goofi and a spot of newspapers for her to potty on – anything to accommodate the old girl. She lost a lot of weight during her older years and was literally a bag of bones as the end drew near. She never seemed in pain and continued to eat and of course purr, but every day we wondered if she would have “passed over” in her sleep during the night. Finally the end drew near and we knew she didn’t have much longer. We called her previous owner, who was also a volunteer, so she saw Goofi several times a week. Her last day, we knew she didn't have much more time with us. We sat outside in the sun taking turns holding and loving Goofi, for an hour. Then she closed her eyes for the last time and went over Rainbow Bridge January 3rd, 2012 at the age of 20. There she waits for the rest of us. Rest in peace sweet Goofi, you are missed and loved.
