Hal was the President of F.A.T. Cat Haven. He died on December 31, 2018, and is now with our Lord. He is missed more than I can say. Hal was the light of my life. He was my husband, lover, best friend, companion, and helper with all things "cat". I add him here to this list because it was at his suggestion that we started this non-profit cat sanctuary and haven. Hal loved the cats as much as I do and asked that his ashes be scattered in the memorial garden with the cats who are buried there. This was done on our anniversary in May 2019. He is missed by all but especially by me, every day and every night. It's difficult, to say the least, to go on without him. The cats need me so I go on "a day at a time". You are loved and missed.
In Hal's words: "My wife, Chris, and I have been saving cats since we were married in 1993. She came with 15 cats who gave their approval of me. We started F.A.T. Cat Haven to rescue healthy cats from being euthanized because they were abandoned and left to fend for themselves. Many people asked if we were nonprofit as they could donate and write it off. In 2001, we were up to 35 cats and filed for California nonprofit Corp. and obtained 501(c)(3) status. We have had 130 cats at one time, but the economy had hurt us greatly. We rely solely on public donations to care for the cats in our sanctuary. We need all the help we can get to keep F.A.T. Cat Haven running for the health and well being of these cats and to rescue more."
