Missy has quite the story. Due to circumstances, her person could no longer keep her. On February 20, 2020, she came to us. She was 10 years old and very frightened of all the changes in her life suddenly. She is a sweet cat but wanted to hide in her bed in the "cat room".

Then 2 days after getting here, she disappeared. Oh my, did she scoot out with the other 24 cats (yes 24, that isn't a typo) that I let out of the "cat room" for the day to play? Well, I searched high and low and called her name for a week, with no signs of her. Then, exactly 16 days later, I hear the tiniest meow in the laundry room (connected to the cat room) but I don't recognize it. I hear it again and look at the cats sitting around my feet waiting impatiently for their treats. No one is meowing. Who is that and where is it coming from? More very weak meows. Finally, it's coming from under the freezer. Weird. I get the freezer moved out and here she comes out from underneath. With only 2 inches around the freezer, Missy must have been trying to hide. She must have started down the back of the freezer and was unable to back out. 16 days without food or water. She was barely able to move.

Missy is now literally hours away from dying. Rushed her to the vet, who thank God is only a couple miles from me. I told him to do whatever it takes to save her and told him her story. Her previous owner told me, "she is a really good cat, knows she is not allowed on the counters (good), not allowed on the furniture (what!), and not allowed on a lap (whoever heard of that)." I needed to make sure she knew she was loved and laps were good. It was touch and go but after 10 days of vet care, she came home.

She ventures around the house (yes, after that episode with the freezer she is a house cat) but is still a little shy.
