(5/23/2000--5/5/2020) Leila was 13 years old when she came to us. She was always known as "the grumpy cat". She did not like to be brushed and would bite if you tried. Petting was fine as long as there wasn't a brush or comb in your hand. She was looking pretty scruffy and thin this year and I was trying to cut off some of her mats. She would let me get them one at a time. She was so grumpy even in her old age. On Monday I saw her sunning herself on the cats' deck. She purred as I petted her and seemed to be herself. Tuesday I went to check on her and she was laying on the cat house floor, not moving, not breathing - she had died during the night. I cry as I carefully pick her up to go bury her. I am sad. Leila is in a great place now but I am still sad to have lost her. She had a good life and lived 20 years, but will still be missed. My grumpy girl.
