The Next Stage In the Life Of Patience

Patience is the new girl we just took in a few days ago. She is in pretty bad shape. She is skinny and dehydrated from trying to fend for herself for who knows how long. The lady that brought her to us said that she had been seeing her for over 6 months, trying to get food from other feral cats. She must have been someone's kitty at one time because she is so friendly.  While homeless, she must have damaged her tail, as it drags behind her.  There is no feeling in it, and she has no control of it, so it drags through the water, poop, food, and her bed, making such a mess. Currently, we have her in a pen, separate from the rest of the population. Cats are clean creatures, so you know this doesn't make her happy. We treated her for fleas and cut out her mats, and she looks so much better already.  Through everything, she has remained so sweet, loving, and patient. Thus, her name became Patience.  When I clean her pen in the morning, it's as if she knows she is in a better place and that we are trying to help her. We love her so much already and hope we can make up for her homeless past.

It has been several days now since Patience went to the vet.  We miss her.  I hope she doesn't think we have abandoned her. We received a call from the vet: Blood work was done, and it's not too bad, "nothing that we can't fix". He thinks she is about 3 years old.  She has damaged nerves at the base of her tail from some trauma, and he doesn't think she is able to poop on her own. He is now keeping her through the weekend for observation.

Pray for this girl. She deserves so much better
